Can only summarize qualitative data with proportion: normal, standard normal, binomial, discrete random variable. Qualitative data that comes from a distribution of sample proportions. Population proportion (p) is estimated with p hat: p hat is statistic that estimates a parameter. Point estimate: estimating a proportion: sample proportion = p hat. Estimated sd of a sampling distribution = standard error.
