Document Summary

Did(cid:374) t start out as (cid:373)ulticellular- start as single cell which divides to become a blastocyst. All organisms are comprised of one or more cells. Basic structural and functional unit of all living organisms. New cells arise only from the decision of pre-existing cells. Discovery of cells was made by robert hooke and his microscope, observed and coined the ter(cid:373) (cid:862)cells(cid:863) Contain dna: directs the manufacture of cellular molecules. Dna-> rna -> proteins/enzymes -> biochemical reactions, transporters, regulators. Heredity information: passed on info when cells duplicate and reproduce. A nucleus is not found in every cell. Transport proteins (chains of amino acids) allow things to exit/enter cell. Dna -in cytoplasm in nucleoid region (not structured) Cytoskeleton -move things around in cell, give cell structure. Deference: chemical structure, cell wall structure, proteins start with different amino, different amounts of proteins that make up rna polymerase. Bacteria: most bacteria are harmless or beneficial to humans, but some are known to cause disease.
