Document Summary

Heterotroph: an organism that cannot fix carbon and uses organic carbon for growth (doesn"t produce own food c-h bonds) Autotroph: is an organism that produces complex organic compounds (such as carbohydrates, fats, and proteins) from simple substances present in its surroundings, generally using energy from light (photosynthesis) or inorganic chemical reactions (chemosynthesis). It has no access to a secondary source from where it can get its energy. Doesn"t have the means for a long term storage. The main reason is because that there is no transporter on the plasma membrane for glucose. Change in respiration rate (oxygen consumption) in isolated mitochondria by addition of nadh, adp, uncoupler etc. Definition of respiratory control and how it is accomplished (proton gradient). Rate of respiration measured by the rate of oxygen consumption. This is how fast electron transport is going. You can use isolated mitochondria and place them in oxygen electron chamber, where oxygen can"t leave.
