If no speciation, there will still be microevolution, but no biodiversity. Species vary in habitat (forest, savannah, desert) so they differ and are species of their own. Conservation concern of endangered species legal and financial protection provided to these species. Origins of species are different as well. Splitting paying attention to differences in 2 species. 150+ years after origin of species, still no perfect definition of species. Over 50 species concepts have been proposed. Many species concepts have been proposed (biological, evolutionary, phylogenetic, recognition, ecological, cohesion, intermodal species concepts) Species distinct cluster of phenotypic space, non overlapping w/ other clusters . Or, things that look the same probably belong to same species. And if they don"t look the same, then they are members of diff species. Problems w/ sexual dimorphism (male looks diff from female ex. ducks (male is brown, female has green head) Biological species concept: reproductive isolation & shares gene pool.
