Document Summary

Meiosis is a biological generator of genetic variation. If one species is going to split into 2 there must be variation. Zygotes bring dna from 2 different parents in the same cell. Bring chromosomes from dad and mom into same cell. Now possibility for genomes for recombination and exchange o o ex. in class. Paternal in gametes and maternal in gametes, chromosomes in a gamete are not replicated. In mammals, male gametes are moitile so now gametes are fussed and chromosomes of both organisms are in same cell. Can"t do recombination because it is a zygote which don"t do meiosis/recombination unless you"re a fungi/algae!!! Now you have homologous pairs made tetrads and cross over and end up in metaphase plate in meiosis one, dejoining and go to opposite poles and by luck maternal and paternal split to opposite poles o o.
