Biology 3338A Lecture Notes - Lecture 22: Lateral Plate Mesoderm, Limb Development, Limb Bud
Document Summary
Somites dissociate with dermomyotome and sclerotome moving away. Part of somites, part of lateral plate mesoderm and part of nc cells all enter limb region taking body axis with them. Lateral plate mesoderm first one to migrate due to fgf-10 expression limb bud forms. Aer = thick ectoderm cell group in between d-v axis of limb bud (top) Causes underlying cells to maintain proliferation for p-d axis formation ie. limb growth in distal direction away from central body axis. Also maintains expression of molecules for a-p axis formation. Looking down on dorsal face with anterior = top vs. posterior = bottom. Fgf-10 in lpm cells causes them to start proliferating and pushing out limb bud. Progress zone = lpm (thus multipotent) cells containing fgf-10 that are constantly proliferating/dividing. Secrete fgf-10 to aer letting it know that they have started proliferation. Aer in limb bud secrete fgf-8 signals to pz cells to tell them to keep proliferating.
