Document Summary
Life history strategy of a species is the overall pattern in average timing and nature of life history events. Shaped by the way the organism divides its time and energy between growth, reproduction, and survival. Frog life demonstrates a complex life history: dioecious have separate sexes. Spread out over summer season tadpoles get rly large and stay in pond a long time: over winter can even stay in the water. Some frogs have no tadpole stage: has few young and has direct development. It looks like a fully developed form but very tiny in the egg. Phenotypic plasticity may result in a continuous range of sizes, or discrete types called morphs. Consequences in terms of success of individuals in terms of size. Phenotypic plasticity: one genotype produces diff phenotypes under diff environmental conditions get considerable variation at that stage of the life history. E. g. , two tadpoles are same aged full siblings.
