Cervix of uterus enters vagina at ~ 90 . 4 layers: adventitia (outer, muscularis (smooth, submucosa, mucosa with transverse rugae (inner) Relations: anterior: bladder + urethra, lateral: levator ani, pelvic fascia, ureters, posterior: anal canal, rectum, rectouterine pouch. The greater vestibular glands have secretions during sexual arousal (psns) The lesser vestibular glands thought to have a potential anti-microbial function. Innervation by: dorsal n. of the clitoris (from pudendal n. ) Recall pudendal nerve and penile neurovasculature slides. Far less characterized in females than in males, but follows similar peripheral pattern. Orgasm: sns efferents (t12-l2, somatic efferents (s2-4, psns efferents (s2-4) Sophisticated arousal patterns w emphasis on envir, emotion, hormone cycle etc. Has little/no selective advantage so was never honed like male sexual function.
