Acb lecture 1 embryonic period: derivatives of germ layers. 38(cid:9)weeks: embryonic period is from fertilization until first 8 weeks, lays the foundation for all other organs, fetal period is everything after that, maturation and further development of those structures. Starts to divide as it travels down the fallopian tube: fertilized egg will travel down fallopian tube, ball of cells enters the uterus, ball of cells will implant into the uterine wall (endometrium = layer of uterus) Ectopic pregnancy: egg implants somewhere its not supposed to: there are diff places where this tends to occur, 2,3,4 tubal pregnancy. It cant survive here so causes a lot of problem: often mistaken for appendicitis. If you end up in emergency room, doctors do pregnancy test to rule out an abdominal pregnancy. Morula &(cid:9)blastocyst formation: 1st stage morula, morula = ball of green cells.
