Transitional/urothelium epithelium (bc dome shaped cells at apical surface & some binucleated cells) Basal cells are anchored to the basement membrane, via the hemidesmosomes. Embryonic ct the stem cells are pluripotent (multiple potential) can differentiate into adipocyte, osteocyte, fibroblast, etc. Know that mature cells come from mesenchyme (embryonic ct) Cells specific to the type of ct (e. g. , chondrocyte, osteocyte) All of the space b/w this stuff = ground substance. Verhoeff"s hematoxylin = special stain to highlight the diff fibres of connective tissue: but is counterstained with hematoxylin so can see the nuclei of diff cells. Collagen fibres are pretty thick, compared to other fibre types.
