She was a heavy smoker but no prior history of heart disease or high blood pressure. Back up in pulmonary circulation result of poor lung condition. Myogenic heartbeat originates within heart: cells that act like nerve cells. Sinus rhythm set by sa node and conducted by av node and purkinje fibers. Extrinsic control vagus (decrease hr), sympathetic (increases hr: para and sympathetic innervation to the heart, don"t really need vagus and sympathetic to make the heart beat. Located near superior vena cava in the right atrium. Located near the opening of the coronary sinus in the right atrium. Located in the septum between the two ventricles. Modified cardiac muscle that has nerve properties. They start at the apex of the heart (bottom of ventricles)
