Stereotype Threat:!
-only when we make stereotypes salient will the gap appear !
-Self-fulfilling prophecy !
-20 white and 20 black student rom Stanford reported their previous SAT scores then
completed a test (difficult problems from the GRE)!
-Randomly assigned to either!
- stereotype threat condition: “the test provides a genuine test of your
verbal abilities and limitations”
-The black-white achievement gap disappeared (10.6 vs 5.2)
