A function of being surrounded by like-minded people. In-group people are more likely to retweet than outgrip people - people who agree are more likely to retweet you. If you stay in the bubble you would feel defensive about contradictory information. Alternatives are to be seen as logical and reasonable, and to be seen as agreeable. We actually ate a big gap about how our opinion and policies would actually work, we don"t know everything even if we have strong opinions about it. People on the extreme left and extreme right tend to succumb more to the illusion of understanding ex: cap and trade. People were less likely to agree with their extreme opinions when they are asked to explain how it would work. Stay the same when they start to explain why they think that.
