Document Summary
Need to consider what is the goal of any discussion in psychopathology. Look at screen time (tv>computer, phone, ipad), what does child"s diet look like, sleep patterns, activity level. These three steps are critical- cant" separate from one another. Differential diagnosis- this is the disorder and these are ruled out (consider all the possibilities and settle on one or more diagnosis) What"s the differential? (what are the possibilities) If these are all in place than there is not a lot of other things we can do. What are the possible disorders in place. Most childhood disorders involve breakdowns in normal development. Clinician will evaluate patients status cognitive abilities, behavioural skills, and personality; and support from parents, teachers, or peers. Decision making process typically begins with this. Use systematic problem-solving strategies to understand children with disturbances and their social environments. Strategies typically include assessment of child emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning, as well as environmental factors.
