Document Summary
Interventions defined: health promoting activities that originate from a health promotion team with the intention of instilling and maintaining health related attitudes, norms, and behaviours. Effective interventions are developed by making use of theory- and research-based knowledge about the determinant of pa. Interventions do not directly change behaviour, but they modify one or more pa determinants, which in turn can increase pa (behaviour) Change knowledge and attitudes about the benefits of and opportunities for pa. Behavioural management skills necessary for successfully initiating and maintaining a pa regimen (ex. goal setting, self-monitoring) Social influences and social environments that facilitate and enhance pa (ex. family, group, ex. classes) Physical environments to support pa (walking trails, community centres) Aim to achieve at least one of the following goals: provide info about the benefits of pa, arouse fear or concern about the risk of inactivity.
