How it feels to be colored me . Zora talks about how she understands race by who is driving through town . Didn"t become black till she was 13. As an adult she is reflecting when she feels/doesn"t feel an element of race. Race is a construction, constantly references on 358. The world is to the strong regardless of a little pigmentation. Paper bag filled with more or less the same things. She suggest there"s a variety of ways in which race manifests itself. 359 i do not always feel colored. I feel most colored when i"m thrown against a sharp white background. She feels very black when she goes to a jazz club. My notion of blackness is different in these different spaces. There is very different notions of blackness. At certain times i have no race. This is the adult me at this time in the essay. I belong to no race or time.
