Study of mind, behaviour(observable acts), and everything in between. Can also be called a science, which involves empirical research, to find out the base line of the mind and behaviour. Multi-faceted field, takes in behaviour in social context, physiological effects and cognitive processes. Profession that uses accumulated knowledge of science to infer results for practical things. Conducts applied research to help(better teaching styles, colouring of hospitals, improving productivity of employees) Community-enhances environmental setting to improve individual functioning(workspace, home, relationships) Developmental- conducts and applies research in age related behavioural changes. ( changes of behaviour/mind over lifetime) Experimental- does experiments to investigate variety of behavioural processes in humans and animals. Health- health promotion and disease prevention( stress levels, etc) Forensic- applies psychological principles in research, policy, and law enforcement(why committed crime ) Psychometric/quantitative- studies methods and techniques used to acquire psychological knowledge(looks over data to understand it) Rehabilitation- works with those who have a loss of functioning to help to restore it.
