Social media is a powerful tool, as was demonstrated when archaeologists got nazi war diggers pulled off of the. Many people wholeheartedly believe and celebrate this stuff. Then there"s the question of at which point must we stamp out things like whether archaeological research obtained by talking with ghosts. Misinformation can lead people to believe that professional archaeologists aren"t that necessary because people can just go do it themselves. People may also be led to believe that the sites themselves aren"t that important and may see no problem building over them.
