History of architecture, landscape, urbanism, and art 1. Florence had its peak between 1400 and 1600, bc many of the buildings are still the same and haven"t been changed. Istanbul has been growing and not all of the buildings have remained the same or survived even. The great re 1660 in burnt down 2/3rd of the city of istanbul + earthquakes. The city of istanbul started as a greek empire (byzantine). Amcazade huseyin pasa yalisi; late 17th century is the oldest wooden building surviving. Grand bazaar; 15 domes in a rectangular structure. Sultan ahmet mosque aka the blue mosque (look at the minarets to nd the differences between the mosques when not noticeable) Royal mosques needed the sultans permission to be built, friday prayer was held in these mosques. The blue mosque was started by sinan but was took over by mehmet aga (was his student, he took over sinus place) after his death.
