Recording industry: endured the most technological changes in comparison to other forms of medias. Time binding medium (speaking and books) vs. space binding (everything else: movies, tv, etc. ) Innis > space binding (tech) is damaging. He was a professor and used books and his speaking to teach (time binding) > hes a tad biased. Rst form of recorded music > music box. The cylinder > invented probably by thomas edison, rst form of electrical music, sort of like a record. 1910: the photograph (big record players), they could play for 10 min, records were fragile (records would have to be replaced often) 1950"s: lp"s, vinyls: lighter, thinner, more durable, rst time to have stereo, etc. 1950"s: 45s, how teens listened to music, record players that could be stacked up, always the same side, etc. Around 1950"s: 8 tracks - tape industry, new tech, allowed to store more songs, etc.
