Marx thought there must be rules governing how the industrial revolution influenced human society. How is society organized/structured: basic structure: labour everyone owns their own labour. Basis of social structure: he lived at the tail-end of slavery. Mostly outlawed, but still legal in the u. s. , some other countries. Had this as an example of the worst form of depriving someone of their own labour. Lost their identity, worth, etc: also saw this happening in factories.
