Since at least 1776 authors like adam smith has published literature on the role of markets, armies, division of labour (durkheim), capitalism(marx and weber) and modernization. Globalization means the growing interdependence among the economies and societies of the world. The role of violence in securing dominance of one nation over another a. b. The historic transition from violent control to economic control. Proposes that since the 16 century, a worldwide social system has developed. Its basic linkages are economic, and the system is organized on capitalist principles is organized on capitalist principles. The result is a worldwide division of labour and a global system of stratification. Today, military domination is less necessary than in the past. In 16 century, a new world economy emerged to replace the system built of empires and colonies. New colonial economy did not require military or political rule to maintain itself.
