Approximately 72% of cancer deaths occurred in low and middle income countries in. 2007, where the leading causes of cancer mortality are lung, stomach, liver, colon, rectum and cervix. Cancer is the leading cause of death in canada. Population aging is a major player in the increase of mortality and cancer rates worldwide. Carcinogens play a big part in causing cancer but they aren"t the biggest cause of cancer. Rates of cancer are increasing for men and women as the population age increases. Could be that carcinogens are increasing the risk of cancer but people are also doing other things (exercising, eating right, etc. ) to lower their risk of cancer.
