Suggests that visual sensory memory capacity is 3-4 items: partial-report procedure. Showed array of letters but immediately after, they play a tone or sound. Sound could be high, medium, or low. Using a sound to cue you to which row to report. Don"t know which row you need to report on. If you could report any individual row, visual sensory memory must be taking in all of the information. The partial report technique tells us that we take in quite a bit of information. But only seem to be able to report some of it.
