Document Summary
A broad category, include: paraphilia, identity disorder etc. 4th century -> greeks open and public, women enjoy sex more than men do. Depends on society of the time, differences in cultures of the societies. Sexuality -> better characterized on a continum (alfred kinsey) Most ppl in the middle, if at extreme (complete hetero or complete homosexual)= rare. Homosexual (dsm iii) = disorder, but now its not , changed because ppl were like they arent distressed about it, its not a problem. Homosexual behaviour -> dont consider themselves as homosexual, but engage in the behaviour anyways vs orientation -> consider self as homosexual. Bisexual behaviour -> have sex with both sexes; bisexual orientation -> Gender identity disorder: feel like they were born into the wrong gender. Paraphilia : may even need that stimulus to feel arousal. 1960s sexual response studied in labs -> masters and johnson. Have ppl have sex, masturbate etc & then study what happens etc.
