Document Summary
Personalities are essentially enduring differences in which people are inclined to think, feel, and behave. We all have predispositions to do these three but as well there are situational factors (ex. across 1000 of the same situation, the person will act the same way for most of them. But, separately from those 1000 same situations, if you put them in let"s say a funeral they won"t act the same as those 1000 situations. The big five and five factor model (ffm) are two separately made models but they just so happened to have come up with the same findings. These models describe 5 dimensions in which people can vary (you have at least some of each). Big five basically took all personality-related adjectives from the dictionary and used statistics (factor-analysis) to say which adjectives" cluster together. Ffm made the same findings but instead of using a dictionary they used items from existing scales and factor analyzed them.
