Example of a cognitive schema: cognitive schema: organized system of knowledge of belief, experience, that guides information processing, guides information processing, how we perceive, think, fill in blanks. More likely to pay attention to something that confirms your bias, you will see gender stereotypes all around you. Less likely to pay attention to counter-examples. Bias means that you have higher probability to shift perception one way (think about figure we saw) Shift interpretation into the direction of your bias. Fundamentally no different from any concept (i. e. , an abstraction, comprised of interconnected beliefs, that organizes our perceptions & guides cognitive, affective & behavioural processes) Beliefs are low-level schemas, when we have something on mind (i. e. feminism, can act as a schema and therefore will pat attention to things that relate to feminism, and biased to reject it) Stereotype of what professors are like = schema.
