Document Summary
Hunger is a biological drive that influences what we pay attention to and interacts with our past experiences and current mental states such as excitement/anxiety: hunger is a psychological behaviour. Motivation concerns the physiological and psychological processes underlying the initiation of behaviour that direct organisms toward specific goals: motives include thoughts, feelings, sensations and bodily processes that lead to goal-directed behaviour. Drive, a biological trigger that tells us we may be deprived of something and causes us to seek out what is needed (i. e. food or water: when satisfied, reward centres in bran become activated. Motivation is essential to survival because it contributes to homeostasis, the body"s physiological processes that allow it to maintain consistent internal states in response to the outer environment. Allostasis motivation is not only influenced by current needs, but also by anticipation of future needs. Hunger = physiological responses as well as more complex cognitive and emotional factors.
