Document Summary
Looking at the biological factors and how they contribute to behavior, thoughts, and feelings. Descriptive research: case study and observational studies are examples of descriptive research. Nature and nurture are entwined: impossible to separate purely genetic influences from environmental influences, they work together to determine human behaviour. Epigenetics: changes in gene expression that are due to non-genetic influences. Heredity: genetic transmission of characteristics from parents to offspring: girl might say she inherited blue eyes from her dad. Monozygotic vs. dizygotic twins: monozygotic same egg, dizygotic different eggs. Single cause explanations may be accurate, but they are generally always incomplete. Governed by interacting factors: heredity, biology, environment, and culture: e. g. using personality to explain someone"s behaviour, barney likes hanging out at the bar every night because he is extroverted. Culture: where you grew up, where you are now. Cns central nervous system: brain and spinal cord.
