Document Summary
Levels of biology of consciousness: neurochemical: neuron & neurotransmitters, neuroanatomical: brain, physiological : symphatetic nervous system, parasympathetic nervous system, endocrine system. Corpus collosum, a bundle of fibers, connects right and left brain. Cutting through corpus collosum doesn"t cause death. However, right brain cannot communicate with left brain anymore. Left brain controls muscles at the right side of body, and vice versa. Left brain = science, language, logic, interprets what we see. Normally, people perceive an image using both eyes (right and left brain can communicate). For a person whose corpus collosum has been cut, they might experience things differently. For such person, split brain experiment is performed. A picture is placed at the right eye visual field (eg: snowman) and another picture is placed at left eye visual field (eg: burger). She looks and points at the left picture, a burger, but pronounces snowman instead.
