Emotions are the consequence of thinking in particular ways and your body acting in a particular way. Changing framing and physiology can alter emotional processes. The expression of emotion helps: coordinate social actions, communicate vast amounts of information to people, triggering kindness and care (emotion -> empathy -> kindness, forming much of the social glue that bonds us together.
