Document Summary
Pulmonary ventilation: chemoreceptors and monitoring, regulation of blood ph. Learn to run program - participation in runs + reflection will get free admission to the race. Community runs still happening after reading week, but none are held during reading week. Gets more oxygen in and carbon dioxide out. Chemoreflexes allow regulation of gas exchange - feedback regulation system. Hold breath and time how long it takes before you need to breathe again. My value: more than 30s, could go longer. Then take 10 deep breaths and hold again - record it. My value: more than 40s, could go longer (my results indicate nothing) For the majority: the second time generally makes it easier. Conclusion from this: carbon dioxide is more important for breathing regulation. When you hyperventilate, even though po2 drops, we are able to hold breath longer. This is because the co2 has been blown off when you hyperventilate.
