Document Summary

Cytotoxic t lymphocytes defend against intracellular pathogens which carry out cell mediated immunity: cytotoxic t cells bind to cells that display foreign antigen fragments as a part of their mhc on the surface. T lymphocytes from thymus gland - migrate from bone marrow to thymus: cells that don"t react to form clones insert t cell receptors into their cell membranes. Mhc is a family of membrane protein complexes encoded by a speci c set of genes. Mhc class ii found on antigen presenting cells (apcs) - when an immune cell engulfs and digested an antigen the fragments are returned to the immune system to the immune cell membrane combined with mhc- Ii proteins: helper t cell secretes cytokines that enhance the immune response, located on dendritic cells, macrophages and b cells. On certain cells of the body - professional antigen presenting cells.
