Greeks were never unified and always at war. Greeks have had a strong influence on western politics. Greeks had strong idea on political independence and freedom. Glorified humanity as the most important beings on earth. Mycenaean built the huge walls and temples. Only discovered bronze age civilization in 1800"s. Lessons of history are more important than the accuracy . Ancient way of looking at history vs modern way. Homer gave ancient greeks a collective identity. Myths and memories made something lasting and instructive for the greeks. Poems of homer became sacred text to the greeks. Homer was the educator of helios (greek area) Greeks were never unified as a political group. Didn"t like the idea of a central rule. Each political unit emphasized autonomy and separateness. Referred to as dark for lack of knowledge about that time period. No written works we can rely on and very little archaeological evidence. Spread greek values, tradition and ways of life.
