Huntington cites previous examples of ideological and economic conflicts including the cold war and the world war. According to huntington a civilization is the highest cultural grouping of people and the broadest level of cultural identity people have short of that which distinguishes humans from other species . Some things that divide civilization is language, history, religion, customs, institutions, and a people s selfaidentification. These divisions allow for a number of interpretations of what makes a civilization and also allow for a civilization to extend into several present nation states.
