People have come to doubt the future the democratic system and its institutions. They distrust the politicians and have little faith in the future. Why: we are still in the early stages of democracy and are still dealing with the problems presented by everyone having a vote, little room for independent members and controversies. But we must not try to find one unalterable answer that will solve all our problems for none can exist. What is wrong is that people should want: j. s. Mill: (cid:498)mankind are greater gainers by suffering each other to live as seems good to themselves than by compelling each to live as seems good to the rest. (cid:499) The problem of size: people no longer feel important in the scheme of things. They have the impression that everything has become so big, so organized, so standardized and governmentalized that there is no room for the individual, his talents, his requirements or his wishes.
