Document Summary

Does everyone have equal entitlement to earth"s resources: lifeboat ethics: arguments against foreign aid and unlimited immigration. Kick that guy out, guess what, he"s going to be a swimmer from now on. Rich people have fewer kids than poor people, i. e. every second there are way more poor people born than rich, because thats just how it is. Let"s postulate that we share all of the world"s resources 1:1: very soon it will be so disproportionate that this will be insanely unbalanced. Tragedy of the commons: if a farmer has the sole right to use a pasture he will care for and protect it. Exclusive individual rights = complete personal responsibility: if everyone has the right to use a commons, they won"t feel proportionate responsibility to protect it. E. g. the air and water are polluted because they are commons, while things like our houses and whatever are clean and we wouldn"t put toxic waste in there.
