Document Summary
Two approaches for gene therapy in vivo and ex vivo. Several methods of delivery of therapeutic genes, having advantages and disadvantages. Idea of re-introducing a normal gene is very tempting and has a lot of potential. There"s a controversy around gene editing (e. g. , designer babies, etc. : with gene therapy, we talk about somatic gene therapy, so it"s not inherited. In vivo gene therapy: ex vivo gene therapy, methods of delivery, advances in gene editing. Gene therapy: has the potential to bestow relatively normal health on people suffering from a life-threatening genetic disorder, germ-line gene therapy is controversial, somatic gene therapy. 2: with a therapeutic protocol and provide therapeutic genes to a patient, we have to consider, the molecular nature of the genetic disease. In most lof situations, it"s straight forward by introducing the normal gene. The lungs are filled with sticky mucous and it blocks their airways, and are highly prone to life-threatening infections.
