Lecture 9 (pick-up from november 16th lecture slides) The young raphael in florence 1504-1508, when he evolves from a more. Perugino (esque) adolescent phase of the renaissance and into the high. Raphel becomes known as the great synthesizer for his ability to absorb and use the styles of the great artists around him in. Raphael, madonna of the meadow, 1506 gestures, exchanges in glances similar to to leonardo"s. Notice how the composition is reflective of leonardo"s style, advancing the narrative through gestures and glances, and using a triangular composition. Raphael, the entombment, 1508 painting is a summation of everything he learnt from michelangelo and leonardo. It was painted on leonardo"s trip from florence to rome. In that way it can be understood as a final encapsulation of everything he has learned from leonardo and michelangelo. This complex multi-figure group has been broken down into smaller groups, tied together through gestures and glances.
