Incorrect use of linear perspective: visuals are based off of intuition. More focused on the influences from colorito rather than disgeno; light, colour and symbolism. It is debated over whether the virgin is being told or has already been told of her fate. Pot of water represents purity of the virgin. On the left panel is the donors of the piece. The right panel is st. joseph"s working. The background is the scenery of the actual city. Oil paint is translucent when applied in thin layers, called glazes. Master of saint giles, mass of saint giles in the abbey of st. denis with charlemagne. The altarpiece painting was meant to be placed on top of the alter. Jan & hubert (?) van eyck, the ghent altarpiece (closed) Some question if the inscription is false.
