Document Summary

Close agreement of geologic w/ present day values. Juan de fuca plate collides with the north american plate creating the cascadia subduction zone. Along this fault line (the san andreas fault) we can mostly expect earthquakes. Volcanoes can be caused simply by melting the mantle: this creates basalt, this magma is runny like water. Some of the deadliest volcanoes on earth as they tend to be very explosive and deadly. It melts and creates a chain of volcanoes on land. On its own in the middle of a plate. Recycled oceanic crust causing a row of volcanoes. A floating body replaces as much volume as corresponds to its weight. Principle: a floating body displaces as much liquid as corresponds to its weight. Sinkers have a higher density on water. If an iceberg melts sea level will stay the same because while it is floating it has already displaced all the water that it will.
