Exiting the phase of the holocene 10 000 years. Humans are force of nature: document biodiversity, ecosystem services, losing and gaining, determine what we can and should do, protect what we need, investigate human impact, development practical approaches protect/restore the world as it was/is. New outlook: - 0 + normal distribution: add domestic relationship, add some domestic and wild species. The great acceleration: impact= population x affluence x technology. After wwii (1950) increased technology and communications allowed for a great increase in economy and resource extraction. This is associated with the great increase of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere, depletion of ozone. Strong evidence that we have left the holocene. Climate change is not the strongest evidence diversity is. Periods of the earth"s history are defined by the changes of the number of species.
