The structure and role of the police in canadian. Often have to distinguish statements from police and department great deal of complication with police associations and police themselves. Difference in views can be seen through the addition of body cams on police, police association skeptical and police themselves enthusiastic differing views. Our views of police are becoming shaped by media depictions that we see. Policing is the act of maintaining and reproducing social order. What are the police; the police are institutions and individuals given right by the state, to use coercive force to maintain and reproduce social order. The police have huge power of being able to coercive force and remove power from civilians. The power of force is what distinguishes police. Early policing controlled by local citizens (frankpledge system) Constables and shire reeves eventually developed into sherriff. Statute of westminster 1285 (period of industrialization, towns getting bigger and larger) formalized the night-watch system in large towns and cities.
