Centralized in palace city, seemed to have influenced culturally the islands: around crete, several palace cities, knossos biggest and seemed as centralised power o. Knossos: evans dug up palace of 1700 bce. Centralised and redistributive: a lot of storage, harvest collected and redistributed to village, surplus kept by monarch. Palace of knossos, maze of storerooms and huge courtyard space. Thalassocracy: kingdom of the sea, minoans obsessed with the sea, art with nautical themes, paintings-pottery, sea life and ships. Seemed as if their whole civilisation was centered on the sea.
