Document Summary

Narrative is present in every age, in every place, in every society. Make sense of the world, of our history, our choices, our decisions. When introducing yourself, you pick a choice of your personal narrative. We tend to add story-telling principles to any stories in our life (eg. news) History is an unfolded drama, everything feels connected to understand the complex problems. Artists show their stories by arranging their own material in their medium in the narrative process. Narrative: (cid:862)a (cid:272)hai(cid:374) of e(cid:448)e(cid:374)ts that are li(cid:374)ked (cid:271)y a (cid:272)ause a(cid:374)d effe(cid:272)t a(cid:374)d o(cid:272)(cid:272)urri(cid:374)g i(cid:374) ti(cid:373)e a(cid:374)d spa(cid:272)e(cid:863) Narrative in life and in film are different. Film narrative extremely selective, highly constructed, a reflection of reality. What is not connected to the main story, that has a cause and effect structure, will be eliminated in film (eg. a gun showed at the beginning, will have an effect or consequences down the road) Film narrative has a beginning/middle/end three act structure.
