Form is a big picture that connects all the components. Formal analysis assumes an active perceiver and an art work that provides cues. The form of a film creates the connection between the viewer and director. Meaning of the film is the product from that connection. Bordwell and thompson on form: if you are a director or screenwriter, you face perpetual choices about form. As a viewer, you are responding to it at every moment. Filmmakers faces choices every day, creates the meaning a of a film. Meaning is created in the interaction between film and audience. Because of the subjectivity, different people would have different aspects after watching the film. However, people also have some similarity (e. g. we laugh at the same time).
