The work shows that we as humans always desire to categorize things: eugenics: There is a lack of connection, there is an obvious disconnect with the land. Linda discusses the idea of a myth : myths are not necessarily false, hogan argues that myths can be the most supreme truths. A human to non-human dichotomy is evident. There is a language that did allow us to communicate with the ground and the earth, but we have lost this language, yet it is the animals and plants who have kept it. The importance of listening: trees lean towards the woman to hear her secrets. Zoos are a manifestation of our disconnect with nature. We go to the zoo to watch the animals in a contained place. Some may argue that zoos are needed for conservation purposes due to habitat loss.
