Music that seeks to recreate in sound some events. Phrase - it is a self contained portion of a melody. It is a place where you take a breath. Regular - easy to anticipate what"s going to happen next. Two musical phrases, the second of which is a concluding response to the first. Motive - a short fragment of a melody. Pitch is the relative position (high or low), depending on frequency. Home pitch - the pitch that the melody focuses on and seem to want to go towards. Staff - five equidistant horizontal lines on which notes are placed to indicate their pitch. Note - it is a definite pitch played intentionally. Octave - two pitches with same pitch name, eight notes apart. Higher of those pitches is twice the frequency of the lower of the two pitches. Unison - two intruments playing same frequency pitch. Scale - 8 pitches arranged ascending or descending.
