Document Summary

When we discussed music industry, bourdieu would think of it as a field. Everybody involved in participating and hollywood films goes into our field. If that(cid:859)s (cid:449)hat (cid:455)ou(cid:859)re orie(cid:374)ted to a(cid:374)d doi(cid:374)g for a li(cid:448)i(cid:374)g (cid:271)ecause this field is like a field of production for hollywood movies. There(cid:859)s also a (cid:272)o(cid:373)pa(cid:374)io(cid:374) field that looks the sa(cid:373)e (cid:449)a(cid:455) (cid:271)ut (cid:449)e(cid:859)re (cid:374)ot goi(cid:374)g to talk a(cid:271)out it. Bourdieu argues that there are two poles to the field (like a magnetic field). We can think of our field horizontally and vertically. Horizontally: a field of cultural production or the economic world reversed. One pole of the field is going to look similar to you (economic world you(cid:859)re used to) and the other pole of the field is going to be the exact opposite effect (exact same world but reversed/totally different). On the right, we have p1, which is the field of large scale production.
