SOCB05H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Nomothetic
Document Summary
After pivoting many times in a research project, you may find yourself adjusting the initial rq to match your new. To whom to those conclusions apply? remind yourself of you original rq findings (256-257) Re-state the general issue and the hypothesis, showing how the hypothesis is related to teh general issue. Then ask: what is the conceptual hypothesis, what is the operational hypothesis, how does the hypothesis relate to the general issue of concern (257-259) The data must relate to the hypothesis: how does it show a relationship between the two variables. Evaluate the data: what are the limitations of your data (259-261) Good construction has 2 levels: clearly states in simple terms what the data reveal. It links this simple statement to larger issues and existing research. Be sure to: restart the general aim of research, restate the findings of your research.
